We witnessed an event that we call 'The Moose Stop'.
We were driving on one of the park roadways when we came upon a large group of about 20 cars stopped on and along the road.

Along with the cars there were two large Tour Buses. The vehicles were unoccupied as the people were almost all down off the road in the 'Tick Brush' with their cameras. The people, about 70-80 and mostly Japanese, were crowded in a semi-circle around a moose which was grazing in the deep shade of a large tree. As the moose was up to his mid side in weeds, the picture the people were crowding around to take, would have only come out in silhouette. The Japanese, I noticed, would take a photo of anything and everything.

It took us about 15 minutes to navigate the mess but after clear there was no one on the road with us as everyone had stopped to 'see the moose'. About half a mile farther down the road I happened to look off to my left and saw a Male moose grazing in full sun light about 30 yards off the road. The shot would have been in almost perfect light. I couldn't stop fast enough and then back up before the moose wandered off. We laughed for 5 minutes.
