We began taking pictures in 1966 with an old Kodak-110 and from1980 until this year we used a Canon AT1 35mm, now we use a Kodak DC-280 Digital..

We rode our BMW Motorcycle on many of the trips we took into the Sierras. On one such ride we encountered snow, as the 'town' of Mammoth is at 7800 feet. We were the only motorcycle on the mountain that weekend. We drew a lot of stares as we rode around the town with people with skis on the tops of their cars. There was quite a bit of ice on the road but the BMW handled it like a champ.

The image above shows the power of an avalanche.

Ski Mammoth

Mammoth Mountain area is very seismically active
Left: Mammoth Mountain Ski Lodge (Elevation 9,900'). The lifts were operating.  From the lodge we took the shuttle bus to 'Red's Meadow' (Elevation 7,700'), located in a valley just to the west.

The object above, circled in red, is a black bear.
