The Turcotte Family of Canada can trace it's roots in Canada back
to 1632 when the first French Portage workers were brought in to central
Canada. The workers, all short and strong in stature, were needed to carry
canoes and cargo over the many land crossings and to paddle the canoes.
The Ethier Family, being knighted by the king and given holdings in the
New World, came to Canada in 1646 and settled in Ottawa as Solder/Farmers.
