The Na Poli coast is one of the most spectacular sights I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. The scale is truly incredible. The cliffs are thousands of feet in height and stretch for 30 miles or so in length. Hundreds of 'private' beaches await you if you have a boat.

The Hawaiian's have a custom of Sanctuary. Around each village huts are set up for various ceremonial purposes. One of these customs centers around a hut called the 'Ho Nau Nau' in which a man may flee to in time of peril. All the warriors respect the Ho Nau Nau (pronounced Ho Now Now) hut much as they respected the hut set aside for menstruating women. The Ancient Hawaiians were a very civilized people when Captain Cook stombled upon the Island paradise.

On the Islands the typical Lunch Plate consists of two scoops of rice one scoop of macaroni salad and an entree. Some the entrees include: Beef Stew, Fried Chicken, Roast Pork, Chicken Curry, Chicken or Beef Teri (Teriyaki) and Pork or Chicken Katsu (like a veal cutlet or chicken fried steak). If you ask they will fix you almost anything, but you do have to ask.
In many places on the Islands no english is spoken. Japanese is the language of choice. Remember 4 out of 5 visitors at any time are Japanese. And Japanese bring alot of Yen!

Aloha
On our last night on the Islands we attended a fancy and quite expensive Luau.

The Luau lasted just over 3 hours and it had to with all the people. We were served cafeteria style with about 1000 other people. The food was mediocre at best but the entertainment was good and lasted all night.

Our memories of the Islands are as blurred at the image above.
We ate and drank, and drank and ate until we were sick. We hold
fond memories of the Islands but doubt we will ever go back.
We hope you have enjoyed looking at our album.
