Our Second day began in a pedestrian traffic
jam at 6:00 in the morning. Workers from the casinos, in their costumes,
were walking in large groups across the streets in all directions. On our
return trip we passed through Vegas at 5:30 am. and found the auto traffic
just as thick on the freeways.
|
After
we cleared the congestion, we were able to make good time with the
speed limits at 75 mph.

|
|
Our
trip northbound was marred by heavy clouds and haze from fires burning throughout
the west. We also experienced heavy rain and fog. And the
road construction!
|
|
|
|
|
Almost
every state we passed through was involved in 'Road Construction'. North Dakota
had the most, with more than half of their freeways coned off, and Idaho
had the least. Salt Lake City is a zoo with their entire city freeway system
'Under Construction'.

We
noticed an interesting phenomena. The number of '
fair-weather' Bikers has
grown significantly. Years ago, when we rode on the
Snarley-Davidson Murdercycle, there weren't many of these people
as they were looked on with distain. People who
trailered there bikes to near an event, and then rode
into town as if they had rode for days. The fair-weather looked
like dyed in the wool bikers from a distance, but up close you could see
that they were doctors, lawyers
(Ugh) and other suits.

The
image to the right show a typical fair-weather biker with his 'rig'. A
SUV with a trailer, note stickers on everything.
Now the
gents below are the real McCoy. They pulled out of the rest-area just ahead
of our car and took to some serious 'jamming'
.
We couldn't
catch them.
